We are excited to share information about our upcoming Peru Journey: Attunement to Spirit in Nature, Culture, and the Practice of Devotional Pilgrimage, taking place April 23–May 5, 2027. This thoughtfully curated small-group experience will take us through Lima, Ica, Paracas, Nazca, and Arequipa, where we will explore Peru’s rich history, breathtaking natural landscapes, ancient cultural traditions, and sacred pilgrimage sites. Highlights include the pre-inca arqueological site of Pachacamac, the coastal beauty of Paracas, the desert oasis of Huacachina, the mysterious Nazca Lines, the majestic Colca Canyon, and the devotional pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de Chapi. The journey is designed with both structure and spaciousness, balancing guided experiences with opportunities for reflection, connection, and personal renewal.

We begin our journey in Lima, Peru’s capital, a vibrant metropolis of over 10 million people known for its rich history, colonial architecture, and world-renowned culinary scene. Lima serves as our hub and gateway to many of the wonders we will experience, including the important pre-Incan archaeological site in Pachacamac located near the city itself.

Our route explores Peru’s beautiful southern coast and highlands, featuring desert landscapes, abundant marine life, ancient mysteries, volcanic scenery, and opportunities for devotional pilgrimage.

Experience the majesty of Mother Nature and Mother Earth (Pachamama) at Huacachina near Ica, home to some of the largest sand dunes in South America, and at the Ballestas Islands near Paracas, often called the "Galápagos of Peru" for their remarkable marine wildlife and breathtaking natural beauty.

Observe the enduring connection between ancient peoples and the natural world through the Nazca Lines. These mysterious geoglyphs, etched into the desert floor centuries ago, are believed by many scholars to have served ceremonial and ritual purposes related to water, rain, and agricultural fertility in one of the driest regions on Earth.

Our connection to the sacred is experienced not only through the beauty of nature but also through the devotional practice of pilgrimage at the Virgen de Chapi Festival. This deeply meaningful celebration blends Catholic devotion with vibrant Andean traditions and attracts pilgrims from throughout Peru. The festival of Virgen de Chapi is one of Peru’s largest and most historic religious celebrations, honoring the patron saint of Arequipa.

We then return to the grandeur of Pachamama with a visit to Colca Canyon, a breathtaking natural wonder that is nearly twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. Its dramatic landscapes, pre-Incan agricultural terraces, thermal springs, and the opportunity to witness the majestic Andean condor soaring overhead make it one of Peru’s most remarkable destinations.

 April 23 — Arrival in Lima

Arrival in Lima according to each participant’s travel schedule. Airport pick-up and transfer to the hotel are included.

Time to settle in, rest, and begin acclimating to the rhythm of the journey.

April 24 — Museo Larco Tour

Schedule: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (approx.)

Guided visit to Museo Larco, home to artifacts representing Peru’s rich cultural heritage and fascinating history.

Private transportation, entrance tickets, and guided tour included.

A welcome lunch is included, offering a first taste of the culinary excellence for which Lima is renowned.

Free afternoon to rest, explore the neighborhood, or enjoy the city at your own pace.

 April 25 — Lima – Pachacamac

Pre-Inca Temple Half-Day Tour

Schedule: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (approx.)

Visit Pachacamac, an awe-inspiring 465-hectare archaeological sanctuary that served as an important ceremonial center for centuries.

Private transportation, entrance tickets, and guided tour included.

Free afternoon in Lima for personal exploration or rest.

Overnight stay in Lima.

 April 26 — Lima – Ica by luxury bus (Cruz del Sur line)

Ica & Huacachina Desert

Approximate bus travel schedule: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Light snacks provided during travel (included)

Arrival and check-in at the selected hotel with time to settle in.

Around 5:00 PM, visit Huacachina, Peru’s famous desert oasis surrounded by towering sand dunes.

Optional activities include:

* Dune buggy rides through the desert

* Sandboarding for those who wish to participate

Return to the hotel in the evening.

April 27 — Ica – Paracas – Nazca Lines

Morning transfer from Ica to Paracas with luggage drop-off at the hotel before continuing to Pisco Airport for Nazca lines observation flight.

Approximate schedule:

* Hotel pick-up in Ica: 7:30 AM

* Arrival in Paracas and luggage drop-off: approximately 8:15 AM

* Transfer to Pisco Airport

* Approximate flight departure window: between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM

Participants will enjoy an aerial view of the mysterious Nazca Lines, one of Peru’s most iconic archaeological wonders. Domestic flight is included.

Hotel check-in in Paracas in the afternoon with free time to walk along the beach, rest, or enjoy the bay area.

Paracas is known for its coastal desert landscapes, marine life, and historical significance associated with the ancient Paracas culture.

April 28 — Paracas – Ballestas Islands – Paracas

Morning excursion to the Ballestas Islands, often referred to as the "Galápagos of Peru," known for their rich marine wildlife, including sea lions, penguins, and numerous bird species.

Visit to the Museum of Paracas famous for housing the artificially elongated skulls.

Free afternoon to rest, explore Paracas, or enjoy the coastal surroundings at a relaxed pace.

Overnight stay in Paracas.

April 29 — Paracas – Lima by luxury bus (Cruz del Sur)

9:50am  Departure from hotel for early arrival at Cruz del Sur terminal.

Bus departs: 11:20 AM

Arrival Lima: Approximately 3:00 PM

Light snacks provided during travel

Transfer from the bus terminal to the hotel upon arrival.

April 30 — Lima – Arequipa

Flight from Lima to Arequipa.

Hotel departure at 10:30 AM.

Free afternoon to rest, acclimate to the altitude, or explore the historic center of the city.

Orientation to the Virgen de Chapi Festival and pilgrimage observances.

May 1 — Arequipa: Virgen de Chapi Festival

Morning bus trip to the Santuario de la Virgen de Chapi, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in southern Peru, located approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Arequipa.

The festival features several key elements:

The Pilgrimage: Tens of thousands of pilgrims journey through the desert, many walking overnight across approximately 45 kilometers of rugged terrain to reach the sanctuary by dawn.

Symbolic Offerings: Pilgrims often carry stones representing their burdens, fatigue, and personal intentions, leaving them along the route as acts of devotion.

The Sanctuary Gathering: Upon arrival, the atmosphere becomes celebratory, with traditional Andean music, regional dances, devotional activities, and local cuisine.

Mass and Processions: The central celebration takes place on May 1st, when the revered image of the "Mamita de Chapi" is adorned with flowers and carried in a solemn procession.

Participants will have the opportunity to walk a portion of the pilgrimage route and time to enter the sanctuary, attend religious services, offer prayers, and explore the grounds. There will also be opportunities to visit artisan and devotional stands.

Return to Arequipa in the afternoon.

May 2 — Arequipa City Tour

Exploration of Arequipa, including historical landmarks, churches, plazas, local architecture, and cultural sites.

Free afternoon for personal exploration, rest, or optional activities.

May 3 — Arequipa – Colca Canyon (full day tour)

Early departure (7am) for excursion to Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world and home to remarkable Andean landscapes and traditional villages.

Opportunity to experience expansive mountain scenery and, depending on conditions, observe the majestic Andean condor in flight.

May 4 — Arequipa – Lima

Flight from Arequipa to Lima.

Farewell dinner included as a closing gathering for the journey.
